5 stunning Airbnbs hosted by architects
Spring 2022
Inspired by the Stahl House — a.k.a. Case Study House #22 — Superhost Mark Bearak’s “Hudson Pool House” brings a bit of California modernism to upstate New York. Of course, Pierre Koenig’s mid-century jewelbox had to be updated (not to mention winter-proofed), so architect Mark Bearak opted for glulam timber for the structure and has designed the house as ‘Open Source’, a contemporary take on the case study movement.

What clients say
“Mark and his team designed a gut renovation for my upper west side apartment. Design was great with an emphasis on flow and closet space, my husband and my priorities. Construction started and then came the pandemic. Mark and his team were attentive and handled a difficult situation well. They oversaw construction with a lot of rules and setbacks. My husband and I couldn’t be any more pleased with the outcome and thank Mark (we nicknamed him Markatect) and his team for delivering even more than we expected.”

“I recently finished a gut renovation of my kitchen and bathroom with DTLS. Mark, Norbert and the rest of the team were a pleasure to work with. Mark explained the whole process up front and worked with me step by step. His pricing is very transparent...no surprise hidden fees. He navigated my project through the often complex NYC DOB permitting process. Mark is easy to communicate with and he is so organized! I am very pleased with the final outcome of my renovations. DTLS is a wonderful firm to work with. I would use them again and I’ve already recommended them to friends of mine.”

“We worked with Mark and Norbert who were both extremely professional and responsive. They answered all of our questions and were an absolute pleasure to work with. They offered great insight and input throughout the process. We highly recommend DTLS!”
